Privacy policy

Last updated: 3 November 2026

Chirp is a push-to-talk app for friends. This page explains what information Chirp handles and why.

What we collect

  • Google sign-in details: your name, email address and profile photo, used to create your account.
  • Chirp ID: the public username you choose, which friends use to find you.
  • Friends list: who you have added or been added by.
  • Profile picture: the Google photo, or one you upload.
  • Notification token: a device token so we can send you notifications.
  • Quiet-hours settings and a count of chirps you missed while snoozed, including who tried to reach you.
  • Game moves for tic-tac-toe games in progress.

Voice and photos

  • Live voice is passed straight from the speaker to the listener and is not recorded or stored on our servers.
  • Snaps (photos) are stored only until the recipient views them, or for up to 24 hours if never opened, then deleted.

Permissions

Chirp asks for the microphone (to talk), the camera (to send snaps), photos (to choose a profile picture) and notifications. You can turn each off in your phone settings; the related feature will stop working.

How we use it

Only to run the app: sign you in, connect you with friends, deliver voice, snaps and games, and send notifications. We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.

Sharing

Your Chirp ID, name and profile picture are visible to other users you interact with. We use Google for sign-in and Google/Expo services to deliver notifications, and our servers are hosted on ZopCloud. We do not share your data with anyone else except if required by law.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your account data until you ask us to delete it. To delete your account and data, email dump6591@gmail.com from the address you signed up with, and we will remove it.

Children

Chirp is not intended for children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date above.
